Publishing a Book

The hardest thing about publishing is not the work put into making a book that others will want to read, making sure all the I's are dotted and the T's crossed. The hardest thing about publishing is waiting to see the finished product. Once you believe the work is good and worth publishing, seeing everything in your mind's eye and believing it will be a work of art, you still must wait, and wait and wait. There are many things required in publishing a book; works must be copy written, edited, and the perfect illustrator found to perform a work of art- a master piece if you will. There are ISBN numbers and barcodes, printers and graphic artists must put the information together before it is brought to the masses. And that's the easy part! Advanced copies have to be reviewed, with a favorable evaluation, there are forms to fill out and book stores to reach out to and distributors to contact. Then the fun begins… getting the public to not only read the book but for it to be such a "good read" that they tell others. A publisher wants it to be a best seller for monetary reasons, to receive payment for the time, energy, faith and money put into the book. An author just wants to be read and admired (yeah...I guess we want the money too, shhhh).
